CTM supports Macmillan Charity Race jockey

15th April 2015

The countdown to the biggest charity raceday in the country has begun with the announcement of the Macmillan Charity Race on Saturday 13 June, at York Racecourse.

Ceramic Tile Merchants is delighted to be supporting and sponsoring Max Pimlott in the race. Max Pimlott is a member of the team at the International Racing Bureau, and was brought up on National Hunt racing as his father Chris is a former Champion Conditional Jockey, most associated with the Dickinson yard.

The fourth running of this contest offers a chance for 12 amateurs to “ride the dream” as they participate in a nine furlong race around the famous Knavesmire. Each has pledged at least £2,500 to the charity, though last year’s dozen raised an amazing sum of more than £90,000. Since its inception, the raceday has generated a cumulative total that is in excess of £6,000,000; with the 2014 renewal alone raising £365,000.

It remains the biggest single fundraising event in the Macmillan Cancer Support calendar, and Ceramic Tile Merchants did not hesitate in lending their support to the event, and to Max in particular.

In order to take part in the race, Max needs to weigh no more than 11 stone 3lbs. At the start of 2014, he was 14 stone 9lbs. So., he has been working extremely hard and pounding the pavements to shift the pounds. You can read his blog about his endeavours, on the Ceramic Tile Merchants website.
